This year’s visual arts programme, curated by James The Cat, is an eclectic series of pieces that challenge, inspire, poke fun and generally turn preconceptions of fine art on its head. Portraits made of money, bundles of tubes to test whether to “change or stay the same” and video that is the very cutting edge of the art world. The installations are fun and intriguing, a very different sort of art than we’re often exposed to, whilst the video show is comprised of pieces that are sad, flawlessly beautiful and even decidedly creepy. Subversive London art legend Richard Parry is exhibiting with his “Art Zimbabwe” concept and Admire Kamudzengerere a beautiful one-off mural “bones in the closet”. It’s a wonderful 10 minutes but an even better hour of your time; thought provoking and the perfect way to start your day About Facing.
