HIFA 2017 is proud to present the newly reimagined MAHUBE to anchor our official opening performance. The regional supergroup brings together Southern Africa’s top musicians in an explosive collaboration directed by the multi-award winning Steve and Bokani Dyer.


Eighteen years after Mahube’s performance at the first ever HIFA, the group returns to Harare’s stage with a superb ensemble that includes Steve Dyer (SA), wind Instruments /voice; Bokani Dyer (Botswana/SA), piano /keyboards; Oliver Mtukudzi (Zimbabwe), featured vocals/guitar; Siya Makuzeni (SA) featured vocals /trombone; Hope Masike (Zimbabwe) featured vocals /mbira; Mbuso Khoza (SA), featured vocals; Xixel Langa (Mozambique), featured vocals, Josh Meck (Zimbabwe), bass guitar; Sam Mataure (Zimbabwe), drums; Mangoma Moyo (Zimbabwe), percussion.


The choreographic elements of this spectacular opening show are conceived by Soukaina Edom, featuring performances by DTZ/ National Ballet of Zimbabwe, Breakthrough Productions, Jerahuni Movement Factory, M & M Dance Factory, AfriKera Arts Trust, Peter Lenso, Blessed Rukweza, Tinashe Muza, Cathrine Douglas, NacDnald Julius and Zimboys Acrobats.
