Double Bill

Dance • Tickets: $8.00

A performance featuring pieces by two companies pushing boundaries and challenging perceptions.

The Art of Broken Pieces
Originally created as a collaboration for the National Gallery of Namibia then restaged for the Baxter Contemporary Dance Festival, this atmospheric solo performance is based on the Japanese art of Kintsugi. The choreographers explore the emotional history of the dancer to create a journey that draws on memories and events. The concept draws on the idea that artistic expression can be a healing process.

Performance Director/ Choreographers –

Mhende Productions presents
The Balance

This Norwegian/Zimbabwean collaboration is about how a professional modern dancer and a physically challenged performer found a common movement language and created a show about balance in our society and in our world.

Mixing modern dance and physical theatre techniques, The Balance reminds us of the importance of balance in achieving transformation for ourselves, eachother and our communities. The performance will be followed by a conversation with the artists.
