Rashidah Ismaili is a poet, fiction writer, essayist and playwright who was born in Cotonou, Benin, and in the 1950s migrated to the US, where she still lives in Harlem, New York City. She was part of the Black Arts Movement in New York in the 1960s.

 

Travelling to Harare for these performances, Rashidah will join a local cast directed by Zane Lucas in a reading of her highly influential play about the heartbreak of family separation, and the search for redemption during apartheid South Africa.
